What is Eminence?

Thank you grade 6 and 7 students for making the last 4 days very rewarding, interesting, and full of great learning.   I was inspired by your brilliant projects, and how each of you pulled it all together in our 4 short days together.

We started the adventure by looking at what "Eminence" means and brainstorming our ideas.

We had lots of great responses about what makes a person "Eminent" such as:  hard work, influential, sacrifice, world known, smart, imaginative, opinionated, observers, visionaries, not perfect, heroic, different, stubborn, unique, determined.

A few of my favourite responses:  "stood their ground, believed in themselves" and "worked with people to gain trust, ideas, and loyalty" , "thought outside the box", "questioners".

We continued the voyage by having each student choose a person to study, and then create a project about this person.  We began our research, and used a checklist to show what was required:  written document, time line of the person's life, a business card with a famous quote, and other products of learning.  Some students chose to do a powerpoint presentation, and others, a backboard.
Some other products of learning where alphabet books, models, paintings, quizes, and word puzzles.

It was wonderful to see all the hard work and effort put into the project.  More pictures in the next post....
